How Do I Become a Participant?

  • Go to www.projectcowboy.net and review the schedule and outline of the individual competition in which you are eligible.  Mak     Complete application according to each competition's rules, regulations and guidelines. 

What Qualifications Do I Need to Have?

  • You  must be 18 years or older by the date of the competition.
  • A copy of driver's license is required with application for proof of age.  
  • You need to have horsemanship skills, personality, communication skills and determination.

Can Anyone From any Riding Discipline Apply?

  • All horsemen/horsewomen can apply for gender specific events no matter what riding discipline you study.

What Can I Win?

  • National recognition as "The Great American Horseman"
  • Your prize is the opportunity to appear on RFD-TV Prime Time Series
  • Gist Championship Buckle

Am I Required to Bring my Own Horse?

  • Yes, you are required to bring the horse that best shows off your talent. (Ownership not required) Your horse will need to have a current coggins and health certificate. All breeds are welcome.

WHAT IS PROJECT COWBOY?

Project Cowboy seeks the individual who best represents the spirit of Cowboy.  Cowboy isn't the clothes you wear or the saddle you ride. Cowboy is a state of mind. From equitation riders to rodeo competitors, mailmen to ranch hands, ordinary to extraordinary, The Project Cowboy search will find "The Next Great American Horseman" who will be awarded the opportunity to appear on a RFD-TV Prime Time series.  The winner of the Battle of the Sexes-Taking The Reins in Madison, Wisconsin will also win $10,000 prize money.
